Hi everyone, and welcome to Empowering Women, a blog meant to inspire and support fellow women. I will be posting weekly on Sundays 6 p.m. EST! I was inspired to start this blog as a result of the heartbreaking incident in Kolkata where a 31 year old doctor was brutally raped and found dead in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Her dreams were shattered when her life was taken within the very institution that was supposed to nurture and support her ambitions. A medical college is a facility where she trusted that she would be safe; however, it was the setting of her untimely and brutal death. Her story is a haunting reminder of the lengths we still have to go to ensure that women, no matter their ambition or profession, are able to live and thrive without fear of violence or harassment. Stories like these have unfortunately become commonplace, especially in India. Stories such as this one allowed me to realize that there’s an urgent need to empower women to protect themselves and take control of their safety. I hope this blog will help create a world where women don’t need to fear for their own safety.
Empowering Women is a space where women can come together to learn, grow, and support each other. I want to help create a world where every woman feels confident, capable, and safe.
Us women deserve to feel secure, confident, and safe—no matter where we are. Thank you for joining me on my journey. Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I’m so excited to have you here, and I can’t wait to connect with all of you!
